During the Roman Republic period, Sirmione was an important connection point between Verona and Brescia, and as the proof of its importance there stands the largest Roman villa of the northern Italy, probably used as a spa.
In the town visit the 15th century Santa Maria Maggiore church, while outside the town centre is the Spa with its beautiful gardens overlooking the lake. The Spa complex is built next to the Boiola spring, where the water comes out at a temperature of 69°.
