Tourist resort and spa of international fame, Sirmione has been known since ancient times for its unique geographical location: it lies on the narrow peninsula that extends into the waters of lake Garda to form the Peschiera gulf to the east and the Desenzano gulf to the west.
In Sirmione one can visit the largest Roman villa in the northern Italy, known as "Grotte di Catullo".
